Hot on the heels of Sweet Dreams, Touch continues the duo's legacy of musical experimentation and takes the group to new levels of excellence. A bronzed and brazen Annie Lennox graces the cover of the record with fists clenched and shoulders bare, divulging only a whisper of the powerful ingenuity this record contains.

The record has an international feel, incorporating musical patterns suggestive of Africa, South Asia and Spain complete with vibrant percussion and flamenco. Annie's once lilting voice has grown into a flamboyant alto and bristles with the funky shouts and enigmatic chants that have now become her vocal signatures.

The record articulates a scorned ego and Lennox retreats into the shadows like a coy lioness ready to pounce, watching it all with fierce devotion. Maintaining the position of observer, she chronicles her suspicious surroundings with blunt candor. Regrets, blame, love and hate form a stark, dangerous tableau. Annie's razor-sharp lyrics and Dave's synth crunch brilliantly bring it all to life.

The mystical classicism of Here Comes The Rain Again (perhaps the duo's greatest song) opens the record with soft, emotional ease but the album quickly descends into more fiery territory. Regrets, Right By Your Side and Cool Blue siphon the duo's black influence with snaky jazz and reggae to create a lively, frantic sound. Who's That Girl is a move towards icy disdain leaving more jungle kick to tracks like The First Cut and Aqua. No Fear No Hate No Pain No Broken Hearts and Paint A Rumour round out the album with a cold, hard punch. The strength and creativity of this album make it one of the duo's greatest.

Notable Songs: Here Comes The Rain Again, Right By Your Side, Who's That Girl, The First Cut, No Fear No Hate No Pain No Broken Hearts

Note: In 1984 RCA released a remix album containing songs from Touch which was called Touch Dance. Although Dave and Annie had nothing to do with the project, it remains one of the first remix records in music history.
