25 September a new CD "Grow Younger, Live Longer " by Deepak Chopra and Dave Stewart is released. According to the record label Windham Hill this unusual CD is a "musical and spiritual journey interwoven into an eclectic music mix - ambient world music with vibrant splashes of reggae, pop, and dance rhythms." Dr. Deepak Chopra, who is working as an author and lecturer in the field of mind body medicine, explains how "the verses in this album are developed from the original poems of mystical poets from India and Persia including Tagore, Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, and Mirabai."

21 Sep '01: Lennon tribute rescheduled
The John Lennon Tribute concert of which Dave Stewart is the musical director was originally scheduled for 20 Sep at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Because of last week's tragic terrorist attacks the show has now been moved to 2 Oct. and renamed "Come Together: A Night For John Lennon's Words & Music, Dedicated to New York City & Its People". As co-executive producer Ken Ehrlich put it "The appropriateness of John Lennon's words, message, and music is even more timely now," and the event will now benefit relief efforts in addition to the originally announced charities.US viewers can watch the show live on TNT cable network at 8 p.m. ET (rebroadcast at 8 p.m. PT.)

21 Sep '01: Why this 'remix'?
Someone got the bright idea that Annie Lennox's "Why?" would make a perfect backing track for the terrorist attack tragedy. The underground "Attack on America" mix of Why is floating around on the net these days, but don't expect anything remotely intelligent or tasteful, it's simply the original song mixed with voices and sounds from last week's TV coverage.

05 Nov '01: Underneath No Doubt
From rollingstone.com: "While in England, they [No Doubt] visited the home of Dave Stewart (of the Eurythmics) and wrote a song, "Underneath It All," with him. It's a lilting, bittersweet love song, with the chorus "You're really lovely/Underneath it all." "There's such experience behind that simplicity," says Dumont. "I would have way overthought those chord changes."
05 Nov '01: Shirley Manson, look-alike
Androgyny is the new thing for rockers Garbage, and the Annie Lennox look circa 1983-1986 seems to be just the thing for singer Shirly Manson. Look-a-here for the proof and add your own look-alikes to the gallery as soon as you spot them.
05 Nov '01: Second hand D'n'A
On the new Willa Ford CD called "Willa was here" there's a sample of "Here Comes the Rain Again". You can find it in a track called "Someone Take the Pain Away". Also in the latest John Cusack film "Serenpidity" Annie's version of "Waiting In Vain" is used.
05 Nov '01: Catching up on October's news
The Eurythmistan news has been very quiet lately, so here's a resumé of what has been happening in October: I announced that Annie was going to appear Oct 4 on a US TV special called "World Wide Women Responding To Crisis". It turned out that she did not participate in this show anyway. Dave however succesfully carried out his part in the "Come Together" John Lennon memorial show at Radio City Music Hall on October 2. Apart from being the musical director of the show he accompanied Nelly Furtado's performance of Instant Karma. Check out the photos at his website davestewart.com Dave also strummed his guitar to accompany U2s performance of "Walk On" during the "Tribute to Heroes" show on September 22. This show was a hastily put together response to the September 11 NYC attacks. U2, Dave and Natalie Imbruglia on backing vocals performed via a video link from London and there's a small clip available here at the Top of the Pops website. |
