The accidental Tourists 77-80 Annie took up residence with Dave. The two of them with Coombes formed a group called the Tourists in 1977 (Actually the three of them first managed to put out a single as The Catch in '77, then later two additional members joined: Eddie Chin and Jim Toomey and The Tourists were a reality -red.) Over the next few years, the band had some successes and at times was on the verge of gaining more than local recognition. They signed with a label called Logo on which they had a top four single, a cover of "I Only Want to Be With You" that made a similar move for Dusty Springfield and the Bay City Rollers. The band made two LP's for Logo, but relations between band and label became severely strained over royalties, which boiled over into a lawsuit brought by the musicians. The group toured across the world, including the U.S., Europe, and the Far East, in pursuit of stardom, but finally disbanded during a visit to Bangkok, Thailand (1980 -red.) |
