Company Press Release BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--March 15, 1999-- Featuring a lush blues-based score by Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, the soundtrack's highlight is an all-new instrumental single written by Stewart reuniting him with sax sensation Candy Dulfer. The ``Cookie's Fortune'' soundtrack album is set to arrive in stores April 13, while the premiere single, ``Ten Year's On,'' ships to Smooth Jazz/NAC radio next week. The film premieres in L.A. and New York on April 9. This is not the first time Dave Stewart and Candy Dulfer have joined forces. The two had an international pop smash in 1992 with ``Lily Was Here,'' the title track from the Dutch film of the same name. That track was the No. 1 record at radio worldwide driving the sales of Candy's album, Saxuality, to more than 2 million sales. Stewart, along with partner Annie Lennox, changed the course of pop music in the 80's with their band Eurythmics, which enjoyed such major hits as the No. 1 ``Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),'' ``Here Comes The Rain Again,'' ``Would I Lie To You,'' and ``Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves.'' Stewart's evocative score for ``Cookie's Fortune'' mirrors the film's rural Mississippi setting, drawing on delta blues influences. ``Cookie's Fortune,'' like other Robert Altman films, features an all-star ensemble cast, including Glenn Close, Julianne Moore, Liv Tyler, Chris O'Donnell, Patricia Neal, Ned Beatty, and Lyle Lovett. In the spirit of great southern gothic tales of the past, ``Cookie's Fortune'' tells the story of eccentric southern matriarch Jewel Mae ``Cookie'' Orcutt (Patricia Neal), whose mysterious death sets into motion a darkly comic string of events that turns life upside down in the small town of Holly Springs, Miss. |
